25 Years of Experience in Composite Materials

Selling and machining composites, plastic, foam, aluminium or laminate materials requires skills and a know-how adapted to those different materials. Our most innovative and traditional machining units are dedicated to shape those materials and meet the upmost stringent customer quality expectations.

Based on the past decades experience in the field of composite material , ATIMA-TPIM has developed and registered his own formula of composite material called WARTEX®. Leaders in the steel, the aerospace and the rail industries, the WARTEX® product line is based on a laminate-based cotton fabric impregnated with phenolic resin providing unique properties.

Composites

Composites are compound materials made by combining two or more natural or artificial elements (with different physical or chemical properties) that are stronger as a team than as individual players. The component materials don’t completely blend or lose their individual identities; they combine and contribute their most useful traits to improve the outcome or final product. Often laminated wave of cotton or glassfiber to increase the mechanical resistance and the insulation properties, the composites are used in a wide variety of industries application.

Whether you are looking for a combination of mechanical, thermal and/or electric insulation (ex: mica panels), heat resistance, chemical resistance,  simply contact us for a no commitment discussion early during the conceptual phase as this can often reduce a project timeline and cost. Our composite experts will help you choose the materials from our portfolio and manufacturing process that best fits the performance specifications and financial budget of your component.

Wartex®

With more than 2 decades of experience in composite, thermoplastic and reinforced laminated compound material, ATIMA-TPIM has developed and registered the WARTEX® for the steel, the aerospace and the railway industry.

Originally, the WARTEX® is a laminate-based cotton fabric impregnated with phenolic resin. The fine weave cotton fabric impregnated with a high temperature phenolic resin formulation with an added molybdenum disulfide filler is giving the bearing self-lubrication characteristics. The new formula developed by ATIMA-TPIM, by the addition of glass cloth (WARGLASS), molybdenum disulfide and graphite (MOG), results in a load-bearing capacities equal to those of brass and bronze; unlike metallic bearings, they won't seize to the metal shafts. WARTEX® superior load-bearing properties and has a coefficient of thermal expansion that closely matches the metal shafts properties.

The quality of our WARTEX ® and its derivatives (ex: C2MOG, C6MOG), have enabled us to qualify in the largest suppliers of rolling mill and aircraft companies.

Mica Insulation

Produced in rectangular sheets, rigid and flexible mica sheets play a crucial role in various application, which may vary from industrial furnace manufacturing, electric transportation to simple domestic appliance such as microwave. The mica combines outstanding electrical insulation under high temperature, mechanical resistance, chemical neutrality and low porosity.

Mica is a naturally occurring mineral. It is a hydrolyzed Silicate of Aluminum and Sodium or Aluminum and Potasium. Naturally occuring in thin sheets it 'built-up' into thicker sections by laminating with synthetic resins. The matrix is very soft and brittle due to the large number of extremely thin layers stacked together.

Right cutting edge, proper cutting speed, or feed rates makes mica machining challenging. Through the years, ATIMA-TPIM has developed specific technics, know-how and equipments to shape mica and match the customer expectations.

Plastic, Laminated & Foam Materials

Plastic, Resins, Laminated & Foam Materials

Plastics are synthetic or semi-synthetic polymer and other composite materials containing plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers, and other additives that enhance their processing and performance characteristics. The exact formulation of a plastic determines the properties it exhibits, with each plastic formula typically resulting in distinct qualities that make it suitable for specific use cases.

ATIMA-TPIM is a full-service fabricator and supplier of non-metallic materials, including plastics, resin-bonded paper coated with melamine, glass reinforced laminate or coton fabric laminate. Our 4000 sqm foot facility allows us to stock and process a wide range of materials for use in industrial and commercial applications, including phenolic plastic, thermoplastic, fiber reinforced plastic and other insulation materials.

Alumium parts non magnetic metal

Aluminium - Non-conductive Metal

Aluminum alloy is one of the most popular materials for machining, and milling in particular. Its alloy is light, resistant to corrosion, and durable. It offers a very good heat conductivity, and can be easily machined and improved in further processes like anodizing.

Right cutting edge, proper cutting speed, or feed rates makes Aluminium machining challenging. Another important factor is the temperature of the whole process. Due to good thermal conductivity (and its extensibility), these alloys require good cooling to maintain small tolerances. Heat removal systems (dry or wet) can improve the quality of machined elements and decrease the risk of damaging cutting tools in the process.

ATIMA-TPIM has a extensive experience in machining aluminium and other derived conductive metal alloys. Our production team has an extensive experience in choosing the right milling parameters to produce high quality components.
